"Presently my soul grew stronger; hesitating then no longer,
'Sir,' said I, 'or Madam, truly your forgiveness I implore;
But the fact is I was napping, and so gently you came rapping,
And so faintly you came tapping, tapping at my chamber door,
That I scarce was sure I heard you' - here I opened wide the door; -
Darkness there, and nothing more."

Edgar Allan Poe, "The Raven"

And so there is darkness here and not much more. A swig of malt, a stick of figgy fruit, a swath of sweetness and darkness and nothing more. The darkness isn't even complete and more a watery cherry black than a coffee black tar. The plainest black I've tried to date by the self-proclaimed best kept secret of micros in Deutschland. Go here if you want a deep-hued brown but not if you want something stouty and self-assured and proud. This is a weakling in the world of darks.
