Atwater Block Vanilla Java Porter
Atwater Block Brewery
Detroit, MI

Imagine yourself in the 1950s at a five and dime slurping at an ice cream soda slapped down by a slapstick soda jerk wearing a baker's hat with a cinnamon swirl circumnavigating it. You and your favorite gal are one glass rim circumference away from melding into each others foreheads for life with a half brain freeze and star struck love for one another look in your eyes. Too bad this porter is nothing like that. It has a sweetness similar to a vanilla syrup that prevails with a long drawn-out flavor turning into chocolate and then coffee at the backend. Not really as porterish as it is a medium build stout but the difference is merely smoke anyhow so who cares. Not quite as good as Breckenridge's Vanilla Porter but only by a small margin. Drinkable, mouthfeelable, quaffable, affable, laughable and grabanotherable.
