Tommyknocker Jack Whacker Wheat

Tommyknocker Jack Whacker Wheat
Tommyknocker Brewery
Idaho Springs, Colorado

The fourth selection in a mixed six pack from the Tommyknocker Brewery (Brewpub).

The lemony effervescence of the Jack-whack goes a long way towards flattening this wheat in this one. As was the case with their Maple Brown it is a bit thin in body though there is a rich enough malt to mustache even a college boy. Still, it feels more like a beer flavored seltzer than a lemon weiss bier. The alcohol content feels a bit sparse as well and that's coming from a beer lightweight.

Lawson Creek Vanilla Cream Stout

Lawson Creek Vanilla Cream Stout
Lawson Creek Brewery
Cold Springs, MN

Just like you wouldn't give a gal you were trying to woo a Hershey bar for a Valentines, you wouldn't give your buddies Stonch, MNB, Molly or even a guy named B. Retard this for a beer christening party. But we might be inclined to give one to the Hinman Clan just because we are HBJ sycophants and like to say his name and mention his blog for star-f-ing credibility. Hi Jay! As for the rest of youse: YOU'LL DRINK WHAT WE'RE SERVING! And by "we're" I mean me and methinks that this is more a hard, buttery cocoa drink than a stout. But a beer it is and the malty nuttiness and creamy chocolate make their stance and hold Birra Moretti as a contemporary and rightfully so because beer is beer and whether or not it is craft or micro it still tastes good for the most part. Even on a 97 degree day powered by electric fans and sweat pores this tastes decent enough to say PROST or whatever the hell it is you beer people say when you're drunk.

Tommyknocker Pick Axe Pale Ale

Tommyknocker Pick Axe Pale Ale
Tommyknocker Brewery
Idaho Springs, Colorado

The third selection in a mixed six pack from the Tommyknocker Brewery (Brewpub).

I know that the hop-heads want more and more of the pungent meat in their IPA, APA, coffee, tea, partner's sexual apparati and drinking water, but I want less and less and luckily for me this one helps me in my crusade. A tad of the spunky herb, some toffee/caramel and a hefty helping of malt make this one of the better offerings from the T. Knocker Sixer. Nothing supremely alive here but worth filling your bladder once or twice with.

Lagunitas Maximus IPA Ale

Lagunitas Maximus IPA Ale
Lagunitas Brewing Company
Petaluma, CA

The last beer from Jay and the Hedonists and what a lucky day it is. It's not often that one is born a possessed idiot, but such is my life. While shopping for books and beer glasses at the local Salvation Army I thought to myself, "I wonder where my Monday Night Brewery glasses are that I won." Sure enough, they arrived today safe and sound and gleaming. I was going to drink a weak little Vanilla Cream Stout in them but I thought that their sheer brilliance deserved a heavy hitter, thus this beer. As far as IPAs go it is very good. I hate the overly-hopped variety and this falls well short of that and into a mildly robust hop with a great and aiding malt. Top notch flavor with mild citrus and the tempered grains. Quite brilliant on both accounts. Thanks fellas!
